In match number 84 of the Pro Kabaddi League Season 7, dominant Haryana Steelers will lock horns with Jaipur Pink Panthers on Wednesday, September 11 at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Indoor Stadium in Kolkata. Haryana Steelers are coming from five consecutive wins in and would be looking to continue the winning momentum. Steelers hammered table toppers Dabang Delhi in their previous game. Vikash Kandola 97 raid points in 10 games have been their top raider and have been creating a lot of trouble in the opposition’s defense with his agility. Vinay has picked up 53 points in 13 games.
Haryana Steelers and Jaipur Pink Panthers are two teams with profoundly different forms, and they will meet each other in the 85th match of Pro Kabaddi season 7. Haryana is on a 5-match winning streak whereas Jaipur has lost their last four games. Haryana has been top-notch so far. The fact that they have scored 40 points in 3 consecutive matches speaks volumes about this team. Their best raider, Vikas Khandola completed a century of points this season in the previous game. He has six super 10s, and his raids have a success rate.
In the first half of the tournament, Naveen and Vinay served as very efficient support raiders for this team. But in the previous few games, Prashant Kumar Rai has stepped up to provide the Steelers with a massive boost. His game has allowed Vikas Khandola to free his arms. The trio of Vikas Kale, Sunil, and Ravi Kumar have also fetched valuable tackle points for the team. And the ever-young Dharmaraj Cheralthan has led this pack well. Nilesh Salunkhe and Nitin Rawal have been good, but both are long overdue for a super 10. They must stretch themselves a bit more to reduce the pressure on Deepak Hooda. Defenders Sandeep Dhull and Santhapanaselvam have been the positives for Jaipur. Sandeep is the 4th best defender this season with 44 tackle points. But this defense will feel the pressure when Vikas Khandola and Prashant Rai attack in tandem.
England vs. Australia, Ashes 2019 Score 4th Test Day, Steve Smith completes double century. Smith also completed 500 runs in this series during this innings, and Smith’s all three double centuries have scored against England. Smith brought up his double century off 310 balls, and Steve Smith scored his third double century on Thursday and as he continued to dominate the English bowling attack in the current Ashes series. Smith roared and punched the air as he reached the landmark after more than seven hours of batting. Remarkably, Smith’s all three double centuries have scored against England.
Smith though, whose lowest score in this series is 92 at Lord’s, brought up his double century off 310 balls when he whipped a full delivery from Craig Overton past mid-on. Steve Smith also became the first Australian since Allan Border in 1981-85 to score 500+ runs in consecutive Ashes series in England. Smith was handed a reprieve when he was batting on 118 on Thursday after Jack Leach bowled a no-ball. Smith caught at first slip by Ben Stokes, but following replays, the in-form Australia batsman’s called back to the middle. England will rue that missed opportunity to remove the world’s top-ranked test batsman, who has looked in form despite missing the last Test due to concussion.
The ton was Smith’s 11th in Ashes cricket, but he should not have gone much further. The 30-year-old right-hander had looked more frenzied than usual at the crease after lunch and had already had a moment of fortune when he skied the ball high into the offside off Leach, only for it to drop correctly in the gap between two fielders, before edging the spinner to slip. This was Smith’s third hundred of a series where he made 144 and 142 in Australia’s 251-run win in the opener at his first Test since completing a 12-month ball-tampering ban.
His lowest score of the current campaign was the 92 he posted at Lord’s after being felled by Archer. Australia resumed on 170-3 after Wednesday’s rain-marred first day in Manchester. Smith was 60 not out-his eighth successive Test 50 against England extending the 30-year-old’s Ashes record.

Ravi Shastri re-appointed as the Head Coach of the national team again; He looks at the numbers behind some of the most famous captain-coach partnerships in Indian cricket in the new millennium. India has had tremendous success, across formats, individually and combined, under the dynamic duo of Virat Kohli and Ravi Shastri. Under their leadership, India has won 59 of the 91 matches it has played lost just 26for a win-loss ratio of 2.269.
The old cricketing adage – “A captain is as good as his team” can be modified in contemporary times to “A captain is as good as his team and coach.” Advancing technology, a rigorous schedule across three formats and higher demands of training and fitness has redefined the role of a coach in cricket. This, when seen in India’s context with its diversity in cultures, regions, backgrounds, languages, and the relevance of cricket to the nation as a whole assumes greater significance.
The coach also needs to share a harmonious relationship with the captain having his confidence and goodwill. He has to play the role of a mentor and guide complementing the captain – this is a difficult job because of the aura and the power the Indian cricket team captain enjoys in a cricket-crazy country. And this is where the job of the men’s national cricket coach becomes one of the most difficult, challenging and coveted in the country. India has won 10 Tests, lost 7 and draw 3 under their partnership. This included a series sweep in Sri Lanka and India’s first historic series win in Australia 2-1 in 12 attempts. India currently stands as the Number 1 team in the Test Rankings.
virat Kohli led India to 36 wins and 12 losses in 50 ODIs in this time-frame. It is by far, the best win-loss ratio any captain-coach duo have had in ODI cricket for India. India was the best team in the group stages of the World Cup, 2019 before bowing out in the semi-finals. They have won 10 and lost just two series in this time-frame.
India has also had a great run in T20 cricket in this period having won 8 and lost 2 of the 13 series they have played. They were victorious in a seven series streak from November 2017 to November 2018 with wins in South Africa and England. This included India’s first series triumph in South Africa – a 5-1 thrashing in their own backyard and the win in the Asia Cup in 2018, a rare series win in Australia in 2019 and another series win in New Zealand.

U Mumba will take on the Patna Pirates in the first match of the final day of the Ahmadabad Leg at the Arena by Transstadia, Ahmedabad on Friday, 16th August at 7:30 PM IST in game 43 of PKL 2019. It will be an epic clash between the defense of U Mumba versus the heavy offense of Patna Pirates. U Mumba stands at the 8th spot with three wins to their name. Patna Pirates, on the other hand, are at the 10th spot and will be looking to move to the upper tier of the table.
U Mumba lost 32-30 to the Bengal Warriors in their last outing despite the impressive performance of young raider Arjun Deshwal who covered up well for the injured Abhishek Singh. The Pirates meanwhile got a thumping 41-20 win over UP Yoddha in the final game of their home leg thanks to a Super ten from Pardeep and 8 tackle points from Neeraj Kumar ending a bad run of games.
Young Arjun Deshwal is sure to retain his spot and will want to shine against the Patna defense. Abhishek could recover in time and can make it if fit.
Defensively, Surinder Singh starred yet again with 4 tackle points, and the rest of the defense did do a decent job and can be expected to continue in the starting 7. Patna looked pretty comfortable against UP, thanks to Neeraj’s stellar defensive display and some support for Pardeep in the form of Jang Kun Lee who got 5 raid points. Monu, however, could replace Mohammad Maghsoudlou who has had a torrid time in the last few games, failing to contribute in both raid and defense
With the cover combination and Neeraj and Vikas yielding points, they are sure to be unchanged. Hadi and Jaideep meanwhile need to be back at their best though they will continue in their roles.
